PILOT SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME 2020

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Please complete the application by typing or printing legibly. Only completed and signed applications will be considered. Please submit the following items with this completed application form.

1. Copy of your most recent transcript of grades from current or last school attended.

2. Three original letters of recommendation from individuals who are not related to you, the applicant. One must be from a faculty advisor. At least one should reflect your interest in piloting career. All must be in original form, and must be signed and addressed to the Scholarship Selection Committee at the address noted below.

3. On a separate sheet of paper, please specify your involvement, and dates of participation, in community service, extracurricular activities, volunteer involvement, and any awards and honors you have received.

4. On a separate sheet of paper, please prepare a personal statement, not to exceed 1,500 words, indicating your interest in and commitment to pilot program if given the oppotunity, examples of your involvement in your minority community, your career goals, any other information on significant financial difficulties you are experiencing, and why you feel you should be selected to receive the scholarship.

5. Provide proof of citizenship.

6. Provide copy of driver’s license or other State-Issued ID (copies of both front and back).

9. Provide a letter of acceptance into your chosen program.

10. Provide a copy of your medical report.

Application Fee: 20500 Nigeria Naira to book a seat for the Scholarship Exams on the 27th Day of March 2020.

Tourism and Hospitality Program

About the Tourism and Hospitality – Diploma Program:

The Tourism and Hospitality Program includes components required for a successful career in tourism and hospitality; students learn all the different aspects of industry and all the departments that form an integral part of the Tourism field from marketing and development a tourism destination, to rooms division (Front Office and Housekeeping, Facility Management), Managing Food & Beverage Operations, Marketing & Sales of the hospitality products and Convention Management & Service.

The program pays a special attention to the tourism industry and all the hotels’ supporting departments required to performance supporting the hotel operation (Human Resources, Supervision, Accounting, and Technology) including an interactive learning on how these departments operate.

The special requirements needed to pursue a career in each of them, a detailed look at each department operations and understanding these departments’ role in a successful Hospitality operation.

Learning Objectives/Outcomes:

At the completion of this program students will be able to describe and demonstrate and achieve the following learning outcomes:

  • The different departments and sections of the Tourism and Hospitality sections and how they relate to each other within the time frame allocated to the program.

  • To describe and be able to perform the duties of different positions described above in the Tourism and Hospitality sectors and the required skills for each of the positions.

  • The duties in all the hotel departments within their course of study, Front Office, reservation, Food & beverage, Banquets & Conventions as well as Sales & Marketing (in entry and skilled level positions).

  • To meet the requirements set in each course outline achieving a minimum of 70% in all final tests and in each course component, projects, midterm tests and course assignments.

Program Duration:

Total Program Duration: 6 months

Total Internship Duration: 8 weeks.

Practicals: 4 Weeks.

Methods of Evaluation:

Students’ progress in the program is measured by their successful completion of the courses listed in the program outlines; a minimum of 70% of the all course marks as well as each assessment component of the courses is required to successfully complete the program.

The student will have demonstrated the knowledge and skills in: World Geography and Cultures, basic knowledge of aviation theory, the roles and responsibilities of airline related personnel, safety and emergency procedures, different aircraft types, various types of drills, aviation first aid, in-flight services and self-defense.
